Writer's Block: Independence Days

While India's Independence Day is often celebrated with kites, the US celebrated with fireworks. How does each methods reflect its culture?

India's Killing Fireworks Factories

The implication that India does not use fireworks is false. They use them in their Festival of Lights. On top of that, a lot of these fireworks are made in sweat shops, by children.

I agree with Tabitha. This question feels more like an attempt to provoke people into slamming the US by making it seem that we Americans are more violent than the people of India. However, if you want to start a fight, maybe you'd better double check your facts.

Ah someone actually reads up on the gory details of my country for once. Yes the fireworks being used for Diwali, especially the child laboured ones are extremly saddening.

I've been interested in India for a long time and I thought that they did use fireworks. So I did some research to find out when they used fireworks. It's sad to think of children being used that way.

Yes but thankfully child-labour is slowly being wiped off in the country now, ever since the NGOs and Schools took initiative.

I'm glad to hear that! Best of luck! :-)
