Are you planning to host Thanksgiving at your place or will you travel to see family and/or friends? Do you prefer a traditional menu or something entirely different?

We alternate between having a traditional turkey dinner at home (with green beans, mashed potatos, dressing, rolls and pumpkin pie) at home and going to a restaurant.

This year we are going to Claim Jumper for their Thanksgiving dinner. I believe they are having Thanksgiving Dinner only (as opposed to a regular menu with a turkey option.)

I believe that I'll have a choice between turkey, prime rib and salmon. (If so, I'll be taking the salmon. I luvs me some beef, but prime rib has too much fat for this fat chick.)

I'm also getting my hands on one of Coco's harvest pie. It's pumpkin pie with a layer of pumpkin chiffon it is worth ruining one's diet over. They also use their pumpkin chiffon on their pumpkin pancakes. Their pumpkin pancakes are my favorite of the pumpkin pancakes around here. But I digress.

My sister and I went to see the Star Wars concert. It was quite enjoyable, seeing clips from the three movies and hearing that wonderful music. Can't think of any particular band that I would travel to another city to see.

I have spent four or five hours watching video tapes or DVDs. There are some nights when I get home from work when I'll turn the TV on at 6 PM to watch Cash Cab, switch over to watch Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune and then watch two or three hours of prime time programming. So I'd guess four or five hours is my limit.

Mostly I watch shows because I'm interested in the content of the show. Although sometimes I turn on the TV to have some background noise. Occasionally, I'll sit in the room where somebody else is watching TV while I do something else (like websurf or read.)

When I was a kid, eons ago, Admission Day was a state holiday and we would get the day off of school. I'm not sure when they got chintzy with the holidays, but there doesn't seem to be much interest.

Which is ironic, as Admission Day is at least one of the reasons Mexican Americans in California started making a big deal out of Cinco de Mayo, instead of Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16th). Somebody decided that Mexican Independence Day was too close to Admissions Day.

*shrugs* That's how I've always heard it.

Today is the 159th anniversary of California Statehood! :-)

My theme would be Books! I'd call it something cutesy, like Come Write Inn. The theme would be expressed with books. In fact, it would be a combination of book store and cafe. People who are waiting can browse the book shelves.

I'd also have an online ordering system at the tables so patrons could check out what books were available and order some to go!

Plus there would be an area just for people who want to write, especially the people participating in NaNoWriMo!
